KC Buchanan, MSW
Executive Director
KC (they/them, he/him) is a ​white, Queer, Nonbinary/Trans NC native and a macro-oriented social worker. They have worked in nonprofits for over a decade and previously served as Director of Programs for multiple organizations, including the LGBTQ Center of Durham​ and Second Bloom of Chatham. KC's career has been focused ​in LGBTQ+ advocacy, domestic and sexual violence, mental health, and homelessness/housing c​auses in both rural and urban NC communities. KC is passionate in their soul about working towards the Liberation of all people​ in all things. They love, deeply, the people and cultures of the South, and are proud to have been born and raised [physically and culturally] in NC. In his spare time, KC is ​o​bsessed with all the dogs; they enjoy making and eating spicy food; swimming; spending time in natural settings; and traveling. KC proudly calls Durham, NC home, and is a papa to 4 extremely spoiled puppers.
​KC is beyond thrilled to serve as HOST's first Executive Director and looks forward to creating lasting change and establishing meaningful supports for college students in Wake County.
